On this journey to achieve our goals we often trip ourselves up with thoughts and behaviors that are contrary to the results that we desire to create.
We buy into other people’s limited perspectives, undisciplined behavior, and overall unproductive habits that keep us feeling stuck and dissatisfied with life.
Today I want to help you uncover some of these limiting beliefs so you can start hitting your purpose-inspired goals once and for all. You ready! Hit play and let’s get start!
1. Everything Has To Be Perfect Before I Start
Done is better than perfect because you can always update your work. Big businesses do this all the time! Look at your cell phone for example. Whether it’s Samsung, an iPhone, or any other fancy-schmancy device you have. They are constantly updating the software, trying out new things, playing around to see what works, and looking for feedback to constantly improve!
So instead of believing the lie that you have to have it all together before you start, you gotta build your life on the fact that done is better than perfect and you can upgrade your stuff at anything so your first version is not your final version. Cool!?
Instead of buying into the lie that you have to have it all together before you start choose to build your life on this simple phrase. Done really is better than perfect!

2. I Don't Know What I'm Doing
Listen, everyone starts at this level. Every great entertainer, basketball player, legendary writer, speaker, business leader, whoever! Everyone starts with not knowing what we’re doing or how we will do it, but once we get started the answer begins to reveal itself. I’m sure even right now you can think of an example where you didn’t quite know how to do something but you just got up and gave it a try anyway.
Can’t think of one? What about when you were a baby? Did you know how to walk before you started trying? And how many times did you fall down? Was that a sign that you should quit? Lol NO, right!? But it’s funny that now because we’re much older (and we think we’re wiser) we tend to overthink and overanalyze basic truths and principles like if at first you don’t succeed, dust yourself off and try again!
Learn as you go you don't have to have it all figured out! Start with what you have #Motivation

You can learn as you go you don’t need to have it all figured out right from the beginning. When I first started blogging I had no clue what I was doing. I just wanted to write and inspire other moms to keep their dream alive. Then people started reaching out asking if I could coach them and looking for additional support outside of the blogs and I started a free mentorship program. This grew into a coaching program that turned into courses that are now becoming apart of my online store! Crazy right? And none of this would have unfolded if I never got started!
Do I know anything about online stores or e-commerce? Probably not much more than you based on the Youtube videos we’ve seen here and there, right? But I’m totally cool with that! I’m starting with what I have because it’s all I need right now and the same is true for you! If in the future I find that I need some guidance to grow the store then I’ll look for a coach or someone who is successful in this space, but for now (say it with me) all I have is all I need!

3. I Need To Know All The Details Before I Get Started
Now some people get tripped up on this one because they think trusting the process means not trusting God or somehow excluding God from the plan, but trust the process and trusting God are two completely different topics. Trusting God means when He shows you what your purpose is, you follow it because you know He knows you better than you know yourself.
Trusting the process means when you learn a way to achieve your goal you apply it exactly as is and you trust that it will help you to create the result you desire. When you don’t trust the process you end up trying to glue a bunch of puzzle pieces together that don’t fit and are not even working together to build the same picture and you end up with a mess! You don’t wanna do this. So trust one process and change the plan when you need to.
Alright now, for the person reading this who is saying to themself, “this is so me! I need to know every detail before I take the leap of faith” Listen, you will be sitting there until the day you die waiting for all of the details to inspire you into action. You have to start with the little bit of information you know. You have to trust that everything will unfold in it’s time and here’s something that I’ve seen happen in my life personally.
When I begin to take action I get more clarity on what to do next, but when I only spend time planning and thinking I stay stuck exactly where I am. Then I wonder why my life hasn’t progressed and everything still looks the same and it’s because I haven’t done anything to help it change. If I am the same, my life will remain the same, but when I take action and do uncomfortable things then my life gradually changes to match the new person I’m being.

4. Being Hyper-Focused On What Others Will Think
Oh my goodness I can’t tell you how many dreams this belief has taken to the grave! And I’ll be totally honest. Sometimes I still struggle with this one, but here’s the deal. I know how to coach myself out of it. When I find myself wondering, “what is so and so gonna think about me if I post this on the gram” or “what is so and so gonna feel about me if they knew my business was thriving?” it might take me a while, but eventually, these questions come to mind.
Does this post align with your intention for being on the gram?
Does this decision align with your purpose in life?
See, this is bigger than likes and comments. It’s bigger than money and fame. It’s about purpose. So I say, why limit yourself to playing small in your life for others to feel comfortable playing small in theirs? No, no boo boo. I’m going to live my purpose (and I challenge you to do the same), be all that God made me (express my full potential) and allow the people who feel offended to fall by the wayside (that’s totally okay. We can get together again later on the in the journey, but right now don’t distract yourself with their negativity or fears) and those who are inspired by you will follow suit.
5. I Am Not ________ (fill in the blank) Enough
This is a big, big one and it affects both men and women. It doesn’t matter how beautiful, skilled, articulate, educated, talented, funny, or anything we are we find a way to doubt our ability to succeed in the things we really want to do. Am I right? We tell ourself things like “I not smart enough to figure this out and be successful” or “I’m not disciplined enough to follow through on my goals” and “I don’t have what it takes to actually win so I’m not going to get started”.
Friend, all of these beliefs are lies! But if you’re constantly saying it to yourself it eventually begins to sound like truth. So instead of buying into limiting beliefs that keep you stuck exactly where you are what would happen if you started telling yourself I have everything I need to get to the next level.
Here are a few things I remind myself of every day:
- I have everything I need to be successful in my life (health, parenting, finances, etc) and business (impact and income)
- I am ready to experience the life that I’ve always dreamed of having – I have a detailed vision of my dream life, you should too!
- I am smart enough to take my business to the next level – the next level means the next goal I have for my business.
These are all really simple tips you can start applying to your goals today! Reach out to me on the gram or send me an email at hello@TheresaForever.com and let me know which one really stuck out to you that you plan on applying starting today!
As always this was fun! I’ll talk to your soon!
